From contestation to conviction: terrorism expertise before the courts

چکیده

This article asks how terrorism expertise has been mobilized in recent trials on financing. How is expert knowledge concerning ongoing and complex political situations involving alleged translated into factual evidence before a court of law? What kind sources do courts use cases, what acknowledged or ignored? Through analysis concrete cases under the United Kingdom (UK) Terrorism Act (2000) Dutch penal law Article 421Sr, we show contested becomes ‘certified knowledge’ that holds together as grounds for conviction law. contributes to socio-legal debates legal two ways. First, analyse everyday, material practices gathering, presenting, contesting relation security. Second, analyses new case particular – namely, security identify patterns deemed relevant court.
